How to specify an industrial cable RFQ

Good cable selection starts with the installation environment and ends with a data sheet that procurement, engineering and the site team can all verify.

1. Define the electrical task

Data rate, voltage, impedance, signal type, conductor size, pair or core count, fiber count and required transmission standards.

2. Define the environment

Indoor, outdoor, direct burial, tray, conduit, offshore, shipboard, oil exposure, UV, abrasion, water, bend radius and movement.

3. Define protection

Individual shield, overall shield, braid, foil, armor, drain wire, LSZH jacket, fire resistance, low smoke and halogen-free needs.

4. Define documentation

Target approvals, CPR class, RoHS/REACH, test report, certificate, packing list, marking, reel length and delivery country.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask before quoting cables

Can you quote by competitor part number?

Yes. Send the part number, data sheet or construction description. We will map it to the closest cable family and confirm any deviations before quotation.

Do you support custom cable construction?

Yes. Custom conductor counts, gauges, shielding systems, compounds, colors, markings, hybrid fiber and copper layouts can be reviewed for project quotations.

What information speeds up an RFQ?

Product family, application, electrical target, installation environment, standards, jacket material, quantity, destination country and requested delivery date.
